How to Stop Caring About What Others Think

and succeed in life

Throughout my entire life, no matter what I was about to start, whether it be a new project, a hobby, a new sport, or just something new, I always had a second thought about everything. I questioned every single move, every idea, and every breath I was about to take. And you know what happened? I was holding myself back. I was standing in my way. The way of my dreams and goals. Every time my mind went “oh, this is a good idea” I stepped in the way and tried to talk myself out of it. Sometimes I even succeeded. This is what we call self-sabotaging. And let me tell you it sucks.

Imagine a small little “doubt devil” (cause that’s what I call it) sitting on your shoulder whispering “what if”s and second thoughts directly to your ear. And because of that little voice, you back out of conquering your dreams, cancel your plans and lose hope. How do you feel now? How do you feel about giving up a dream you’ve been dreaming of achieving since you were 7 years old. What would your 7-year-old self think? Do you really wanna give up now? Right now, when you’ve come such a long way? Hustling, sweating, working your ass off. Is this you who wanna give up, or is this the whispers of the doubt devil?

Let me introduce you to the doubt devil or in other words as known as other people’s thoughts. That’s right. That little devil on your shoulder? It’s not real. It never was. You created that. You and your imagination. It’s embarrassing, isn’t it? You let that small whispering thing on your shoulder take control over your entire life. And it’s not even real.

Cause here’s the thing. People have opinions, right? And sometimes they like to make them known by saying it out loud. And this can sometimes hurt your feelings. But are you going to let them control your life? That one little voice, which isn’t even there. You make it be there. And you give it power. Do you realize how ridiculous this sounds?

Listen, if you’re reading this now I want you to think about the most recent thing you were dying to do, try or create, but doubt devil talked you out of it. Now, I want you to find a reason you wanted to do that thing in the first place. If you have the reason, and you still wanna do it then let’s do it. Act as if no one was on the planet but you. Or if everyone around you were blind. Cause they can’t make an opinion on something they don’t see you doing. And if somehow they still do, congratulations. Cause guess what? You’re probably doing something worth mentioning. You’re doing something worth being talked about. But at least you’re doing something.

So please, if you’ve made it this far, do yourself a favor and step out of your way. You have great things to share with the world, and you have to be the only one to believe it.
